Dr. Shiramizu is a Professor in the Departments of Pediatrics and Tropical Medicine, Medical Microbiology, Pharmacology; and Medicine; and a graduate faculty member in the Departments of TMMMP; Cell and Molecular Biology; and Physiology at the University of Hawaii (UH) John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). As a board-certified pediatrician, he has 20+ years clinical research experience at JABSOM (18 years) and had previous clinical translational research experience at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) (8 years). His pediatric clinical research experience includes being a member of the Children’s Oncology Group Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) Committee and active in clinical trial study protocol development and implementation since 1993 (Children’s Cancer Group, Pediatric Oncology Group, Children’s Oncology Group). He has experience as PI and multiple-PI for adult and pediatric clinical studies locally and nationally, with involvement in study design, development, implementation, and coordination. He has extensive experience with mentoring students and faculty. He is involved in other research areas including HIV-associated co-morbidities (cognition, cancer) and childhood non-Hodgkin lymphoma. He collaborates with RCMI investigators across RTRN.
