    Dr. Bell is currently researching a number of topics in the areas of mental health awareness among African American college students and identity development among African American women. Specifically, she has been receiving yearly grant support SAMHSA for mental health screenings on campus and the collection of data on particular issues facing HBCU students such as alcohol use, the consequences of social isolation, depression and suicide, and intimate partner violence. Dr. Bell is also currently collecting and analyzing data regarding the interrelated factors of sexism, racism, feminist identity, and racial identity for African American women.
