Dr. Idalí Martínez is Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology and Medical Zoology of the School of Medicine, UPR Medical Sciences Campus.
She obtained her bachelor degree in Industrial Microbiology from the University of Puerto Rico Mayaguez Campus and her master and doctoral degree in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics from Rutgers University. From 1996-1999 she worked as a post-doctoral fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Edmundo Kraiselburd in the Department of Microbiology and Medical Zoology. She is the principal investigator of the Molecular Virology Laboratory.
Her area of research interest is virology, focusing on the development of DNA vaccines against Dengue viruses, studying the mechanisms of cross-protection between Dengue and West Nile Virus, and the mechanisms of pathogenesis of Chikungunya virus. She has published her findings in Cell and Molecular Biology, Archives of Virology and Journal of Medical Primatology.

PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
