I retired from the US Postal Service (USPS) after 22 years and I was able to combine it with my profession as an industrial/organizational psychology teaching and doing research, presenting in conferences, symposiums, and different professional congress. Also, despite the fact that I have to work in the USPS, I have published over 40 articles in mostly Spanish peer review journals. My early research interest was attitudes toward co-workers with HIV/AIDS, scale development, violence at work, and discretionary work behavior.

My research interest is mostly in the area of occupational health psychology (OHP). I am interested in the OHP area because its main objective is to care about the health of employees; therefore, I have focused on the effects of stress, incivility, and workplace bullying in employees’ well-being (anxiety & depression), cardiovascular health, sleep well-being, and PTSD.

I have been working since 2003 in a clinical psychology program within a school of medicine, and this has given me the opportunity to develop other interest such as biomarkers and inflammatory process which I have begun to work in a pilot study about the inflammatory mechanism of depression in type 2 diabetes patients in which Dr. Yasuhiro Yamamura, co-investigator of this pilot, was my mentor. Moreover, this experience opens my interest on other lines of research in which I will try to study the association between workplace bullying and cytokines.
