    Dr. Mary Rodríguez-Rabassa earned a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology [2006] and a post-doctoral experience in Psychoneurometrics [2008] in Ponce Health Sciences University (PHSU), Puerto Rico. Recently achieved a Post-doctoral degree in Clinical and Translational Research [2017] in University of Puerto Rico Medical Sciences Campus, Puerto Rico. She joined to work with PHSU since 2007 in the department of Psychology becoming an associate professor in 2012. She has stand out supervising and teaching psychological assessment courses to doctoral students emphasizing children functioning. As co-investigator and field coordinator went through the process of normalization of psychological test for Puerto Rican population (e.g., Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale III - Puerto Rico). Dr. Rodríguez has been able to develop other investigations integrating several disciplines in the scientific realm. As part of this incorporation today, she leads as primary investigator in Ponce Research Institute two major studies focused in associations between cognition, emotional distress, inflammation, and microbiome in obese children. In these studies, the major goals are to identifying potential mechanisms in preventing and treating childhood obesity and other obesity-associated chronic diseases. She is currently a PI in a collaborative study with Moffitt Cancer Center exploring perceptions and barriers for lung cancer screening in Puerto Rico. Dr. Rodríguez is also an active collaborator with other researchers in areas such as tobacco use, fibromyalgia, rheumatoid arthritis, and mental illness.
