overview Coralee Pérez Pedrogo, Ph.D. is a licensed clinical psychologist and adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Public Health at UPR, Medical Sciences Campus. Dr. Pérez-Pedrogo has experience working on outpatient clinics and inpatient psychiatric units with patients with substance use disorders, anxiety disorders (e.g., trauma, posttraumatic stress disorder and generalized anxiety) and, affective disorders. In addition, she has over 12 years of experience in clinical research studies that include providing manualized culturally adapted evidence-based interventions for alcohol prevention, conduct disorders and affective disorders. Dr. Pérez-Pedrogo is currently the PI of two funded studies. The first one funded by NIMHD-RCMI is a mixed methods study which explores the magnitude of stigma towards drug users among a purposeful sample of drug abuse treatment providers in PR and their conceptions of the challenges involved in servicing patients with Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and HIV. The second study is one of two funded projects included in the Resource-Related Research Project Grant (R24) entitled Diversity-promoting Institutions Drug Abuse Research Program (DIDARP). This study explores the extent of self-stigma in treatment adherence as well as its correlates in people with SUD and HIV. Her active participation in clinical research studies has provided her with the opportunity to learn about design of clinical trials, strengthen knowledge and skills in selection and application of statistical techniques, increases knowledge regarding the dissemination and implementations of evidence based practices interventions in marginalized communities.
