The investigator is a Movement Disorders specialist, academic clinician and clinical investigator working with patients with chronic neurodegenerative conditions. The University of Puerto Rico Movement Disorders clinic handles many of the Parkinson disease and dementia referrals from primary care physicians and neurologists in the Island. The clinic has a wide diversity of Hispanic patients with neurodegenerative conditions coming from various socioeconomic backgrounds. The investigator has experience in collaborative clinical research that requires patient evaluation, demographics data, screening using neurological tests like the UPDRS in Parkinson, depression and dementia scales, quality of life evaluations, and assessing medical interventions. Examples of collaborative research participation include genetic studies in Parkinson, genetic analysis and epidemiologic evaluation of early onset Parkinson patients, medication intervention in the evaluation and management of depression in Parkinson disease, assessment of medication efficacy and tolerability in early, and moderate to advanced Parkinson disease.
