overview A Macon, Georgia native, Valerie Montgomery Rice, M.D .F.A.C.O.G., renowned infertility specialist and researcher, is the dean and executive vice president for Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Montgomery Rice is credited with founding the Center for Women’s Health Research at Meharry Medical College, one of the nation’s first research centers devoted to studying diseases that disproportionately impact women of color. She began working with Dr. Hildreth at Meharry in his research around HIV, a collaboration they continue today. Together, using her expertise in clinical trial development, they are evaluating the therapeutic usage of BCD; working to implement clinical trials with the University of Zambia, Morehouse School of Medicine and UC Davis. Dr. Montgomery Rice currently serves on the FDA Advisory Panel for Reproductive and Urological Drugs and was recently elected to the board of directors of the Society for Women’s Health Research. Her acumen and the many contributions in women’s health and research have earned national and international recognition, particularly, through her unwavering commitment to eliminating disparities in women’s healthcare. Dr. Montgomery Rice completed her undergraduate degree at Georgia Institute of Technology, medical degree from Harvard Medical School, internship and residency in gynecology and obstetrics at Emory University and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at Hutzel Hospital in Detroit.
