I am a Board Certified neurologist and Sleep Medicine specialist. I am also fellowship trained in neuromuscular diseases. I established a four bed sleep laboratory, trained and supervised over ten sleep technicians and directed the successful sleep center efforts for the American Academy of Sleep Medicie accreditation. Due I realized that in PR there are great limitations in access to sleep care due to the lack of sleep medicine specialists and sleep technicians. Fifteen months ago, I started working at the Veteran's hospital to develop a training program is sleep medicine. Realizing the great gap in research work that includes Puert Ricans and Hispanics I am also working to develop research projects that will help to bridge this gap. I want to mentor younger physicians and others to advance the field of sleep medicine in Hispanics and in Puerto Rico.
