overview I am a structural biologist who has extensive experience working on virus structures. My lab combines X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) to determine virus structures in order to understand their assembly and infection mechanism. The virus systems that under investigation include common cold viruses and marine viruses. Besides studying structures of intact viruses, Dr. Xiao is currently also working with protein structures related to viral SUMOlyation, viral DNA repair and viral DNA topoisomerization. In addition to virology projects, my lab is also interested in working with structures related to circadian rhythm, antibodies agaisnt glycans, and plant photosystems.
