overview Our group investigates the physics of materials at the micro and nanoscale and their potential utilization in practical applications. Emphasis is placed on patent disclosures and the eventual migration to a mass-production environment. The first two products demonstrated in the MEMS Laboratory are anticipated to become available to the public at large early in 2013. Research projects include power generation from wearable fabrics, high-efficiency photovoltaics, metamaterials for imaging applications, microactuators for radar operation, chemical sensors on a robotic platform, drug-eluting, bioabsorbable medical implants, and nanowire arrays for imaging and cooling applications.
