I have a broad background in research and more recently in Informatics as Director of the Learning and Informatics Resources Center (LIRC) at UCC and as Liaison for the Educational Resources Center of the Title V proposal at UCC, Initially as researcher in a postdoctoral fellowship at the Neurobiology Institute of the UPR-Medical Sciences, I carried out collaborative single channel acquisition and analysis of molecules related to drug addiction, hearing research, and glia, all of them involving a large group of interactions at several levels and with national and international researchers. At the Physiology Department at UCC, I expanded my research to include neurophysiological studies associated with animal behavior during thyroid dysfunction in which I trained more than 30 undergraduate, medical, and graduate students in collaborative projects. All this experience was as PI or Co-Investigator on several university NIH-funded grants. The most successful collaborative interaction of my laboratory concerned the involvement at the molecular level relating to physiological alterations of single channels working with the UPR molecular group in which (at that time) the key factor was proximity allowing for easy communication.
