overview Dr. Dominic Chow is a Professor in the Department of Medicine and Clinical Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Hawaii, Manoa, John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM). He is the Medical Director of the Clint Spencer Immunology Clinic, and a Co-Investigator at the Hawaii Center For AIDS. He is an attending physician at the Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children and the Queen Emma Clinics where he participates in the medical training of categorical pediatric, internal medicine, and triple board residents. He completed medical school at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn and his Combined Internal Medicine and Pediatric Residency at the Yale Medical School Affiliated Bridgeport Hospital. He subsequently studied Preventive Medicine at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health where he earned his Masters of Public Health in International Health. Eager to reduce childhood mortality and morbidity, he worked in Guyana, South America as short term consultant under the Expanded Programme for Immunization at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO). He helped curb a Yellow Fever outbreak in Guyana during the late 1990’s. He joined the JABSOM faculty in 2000 as an investigator at the Hawaii Center For AIDS. He completed his PhD in Clinical Research at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. He has extensive experience in developing, acquiring and implementing local and national grants. Dr. Chow's research and academic interests include the complications of HIV and antiretroviral therapy on the autonomic nervous system, cardiovascular system, glucose, and liver metabolism. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and General Pediatrics.
