Overview
My formal training is in Family and Preventive Medicine. During my career, I have accumulated substantial experience as a clinician, administrator, mentor, and as a clinical researcher. My association with the faculty at Ponce Health Sciences University (formerly Ponce School of Medicine and Health Sciences) is of 30 years. During my time in the institution I have occupied numerous administrative positions including; Assistant Dean for Admissions in the MD Program; Associate Dean for Student Affairs; Director of the Research Unit at the Department of Family Medicine, and Coordinator of the Public Health Program. My experience also includes serving in multiple advisory groups in academic as well as research and research training areas. As a regular Clinical Faculty at the institution, my academic responsibilities have included teaching courses in Family Medicine, Bioethics, Epidemiology, Biostatistics, and Complementary Medicine. Currently, I hold the academic rank of Full Professor in the Public Health Program and the Department of Family Medicine. My research interests fall in the general fields of Preventive and Complementary Medicine. Through many years I have supervised the research ventures of trainees in residency programs at several hospitals affiliated with our medical school.
